GENERALIZATIONS ABOUT BIM;

(BIM / Building Information Modeling), which can be used effectively in the main processes such as the design, construction and maintenance of different architectural projects; It is an information management system that is used and benefited jointly by task contractors in all processes such as employers, designers, contractors and suppliers.

BIM is not an architectural software or architectural program; It is an information management system.

Architects, civil engineers, mechanical engineers and electrical engineers, who are project stakeholders, can make their own solutions in different 3D solution programs.
While the architect can use “Allplan”, the engineer can use “Tekla” and the mechanical and electrical managers can use “Revit Mep”. The investor and all other stakeholders can watch and follow the entire 3D virtual image of the project in another program such as “Naviswork” or “Solibri”.

Generally, in the definitions for BIM;
It is generalized that “BIM is the environment where all kinds of information (including budget) can be presented, which will be used not only during the planning or construction phase, but also during the use phase of the building, by functioning as a data bank throughout the entire life cycle of the project".

In this generalization, what is missing and wrong; ERP systematics is not taken into account.

In my opinion, this is to ignore the "Construction Project Management" science.
It is to ignore the 9 basic elements of Project Management.
It is to ignore PMI's Project Management processes.
It is to ignore the ERP systems specially designed for the Construction Sector.
BIM is only an improved tool of the "Construction Project Management" process, technology and interdisciplinary sharing at the project stage.

Sectoral ERP; It is a set of software that disciplines activities at all points of an enterprise.
Starting from this expression, BIM tools are a part of ERP. BIM is insufficient in an environment where there is no ERP systematic. In systems without ERP, maybe we can talk about 3D BIM solutions, but it is not possible to talk about BIM solutions such as 4D, 5D, 6D.
